The Naval Academy sailing program transforms midshipmen into the confident, decisive officers our Navy and Marine Corps need. Your generosity makes every mile of that journey possible.
When you give to the Naval Academy Sailing Foundation, you place a midshipman at the helm of a vessel in open ocean, where textbook theory becomes lived leadership. You fund the coaches who mentor them, the boats that carry them, and the program infrastructure that ensures every experience is safe, rigorous, and world-class.
The impact is not abstract. Your support helped Navy sailing win back-to-back McMillan Cups, earn a 2nd-place finish at ICSA Fleet Race Nationals, and claim the Director of Athletics Cup as the Naval Academy's top varsity program. More importantly, your support has shaped thousands of junior officers who credit their time on the water with making them better leaders in the fleet.
Make an immediate impact on Navy Sailing with a gift of any size. One-time contributions fund boats, coaching, training, and facility needs. Donations may be tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Join The Watch, our community of committed monthly donors. Like the sailors who stand watch through every hour at sea, Watch members provide the steady, reliable support that keeps Navy Sailing strong year-round.
NASF was built on donated boats — our founding mechanism and a unique way to give. Your vessel trains midshipmen for years, then funds operations for decades. A gift with compounding impact.
Donating appreciated securities or directing a grant from your donor-advised fund can offer significant tax advantages while supporting Navy Sailing.
Many employers will match your charitable gift, doubling or even tripling your impact. Check with your company's HR department and submit a match request referencing NASF (EIN 23-7328323).
Leave a lasting legacy for Navy Sailing through your estate plan. Bequests, charitable remainder trusts, IRA charitable rollovers, and life insurance designations ensure future generations benefit.
Replace aging vessels with open-ocean capable boats, maintain an optimal dinghy replacement cycle, and acquire advanced technology platforms for match racing and competitive readiness.
World-class results require world-class coaching. Your gift helps recruit and retain elite coaches, support volunteer networks, and invest in the technical staff who maintain the fleet.
Your support expands access to advanced training, offshore racing, and intercollegiate competition — ensuring that more midshipmen experience the leadership development that comes from serious time on the water.
From safety gear and protective clothing to navigation systems and rigging, the right equipment is essential to every sailor on the water. Your support ensures our Midshipmen are equipped with reliable, high-quality gear that enhances safety, performance, and readiness in all conditions.
The Naval Academy Sailing Foundation gratefully recognizes the generosity of our supporters through a tiered giving program. Each level reflects a deeper commitment to developing leaders through sailing.

The Naval Academy Sailing Foundation was built on donated boats, and this tradition remains one of the most distinctive and impactful ways to support Navy Sailing.
When you donate a sailboat to NASF, the Foundation places it in active service with the Naval Academy sailing program through a no-cost donative bareboat charter. NASF retains ownership while the Naval Academy operates the vessel, putting midshipmen at the helm for training and intercollegiate competition.
When the boat is eventually retired from the Navy fleet, NASF sells it and deposits the proceeds into a professionally managed investment portfolio that generates returns to fund ongoing program operations. Through this model, NASF has provided nearly 200 boats to the Naval Academy since 1973.
Boat donations may also qualify for a charitable tax deduction based on the fair market value of the vessel.
A planned gift to NASF is one of the most meaningful ways to ensure that future generations of midshipmen experience the leadership-building power of sailing. By including NASF in your estate plan, you join a tradition of foresight and generosity stretching back more than fifty years.
Options include bequests in your will or living trust, charitable remainder trusts, IRA charitable rollovers (up to $105,000 annually for donors aged 70½ or older), and life insurance designations naming NASF as beneficiary.
Planned giving is deeply personal, and we welcome the opportunity to work with you and your financial advisor to structure a gift that reflects your goals.
The Naval Academy Sailing Foundation is committed to the responsible stewardship of every gift we receive. We believe donors deserve full transparency about how their contributions are used and the impact they create.
We would be glad to help you find the right way to support Navy Sailing. Whether you are considering a first gift or exploring a major commitment, we are here to talk.
